Why the name?

Well, I fancy myself a pretty great cook and baker these days but it wasn't always the case.

I got married young and that meant a tight budget while my husband worked as a low ranking military guy and I went to college full time. My dad always teases that the first several times he and my mom came to visit us I served them fishsticks and mac n' cheese for dinner. While I don't remember serving it THAT often I do have nightmares about ever having fixed such a disgusting meal for myself and my husband on such a regular basis, let alone someone who was a guest in my home. I will chalk it up to cooking inexperience and an extremely tight budget. At any rate, whenever my dad brings up the fishsticks and mac n' cheese story it both cracks me up, and makes me proud to know I've come this far.

Nineteen years later I am happy to say that I cook a variety of things often and most nights my family appreciates my well crafted, tasty meals. I love cooking and baking almost as much as I love my family. We are what I would call "total foodies" here at our house.
